Description:
Crisol is a series of knives that reflect on the contemporary migration phenomenon and its impact on the emergence of new "fusion cuisines," showcasing how gastronomy and culture travel around the world.Starting with blades from Florentines Kitchen Knives, sourced from an old factory in Thiers, France, the main objective was to communicate the origin and movement of objects.
In this process, wood played a key role, as it is a living, noble material that grows in different environments. Context gives each wood species unique characteristics, making it one of the most widely used and traded materials globally. In this project, each handle is crafted by combining scraps of different wood species from various parts of the world.
Beyond this material-based metaphor of fusion, the project goes further than aestheticsit calls for an appreciation of the chain of processes and materials behind everyday objects.
